The Role: This is a leadership role which consists uniquely of two responsibilities: strategy, and corporate development. This role will directly report to the CEO & cofounders.

  1. The first responsibility is working with the CEO and leadership team on corporate level strategy projects, such as market entry to other countries. The work often mirrors the work found at a top strategy consulting firms, but with an emphasis on getting to impact in close collaboration with leaders of other areas at Stori. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Leading projects from inception to implementation and/or handover to operators in the business
  • Developing work plans to go from a high-level strategy idea to actionable steps
  • Leading consumer research work
  • Financial modeling to size up the opportunity and investment needs
  1. The second responsibility is leading corporate development work, which often includes Merger & Acquisitions work to deliver on our corporate growth strategy. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Support Stori’s growth strategy through identification, assessment, and execution of potential mergers, acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures 
  • Establish and lead a robust and comprehensive process to identify and evaluate potential opportunities
  • Partner with business leaders before, during, and after the M&A processes, to ensure the deals make strategic sense, fit with the forward-looking business plans, and are integrated smoothly and fully optimized
  • Lead cross-functional teams in developing acquisition business case analyses and executing and interfacing with finance, accounting, legal, tax, HR, and other departments to ensure seamless deal execution.

What we are looking for:

    • Experience
      • Total of 6+ years of experience
      • 3+ years of consulting experience with a top-tier strategy consulting firm, or experience in a respected operating company’s strategy function
      • 1+ years of experience in Corporate Development or M&A, especially in opportunity sizing and commercial due diligence 
      • This experience could take place in a consulting firm, investment bank, or Corporate Develop / M&A department
  • 1+ years of operating company experience (ideally startup) ideally in financial service industry covering consumer financial products, particularly credit card, loans, deposits

    • Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams
    • Ability to structure and manage complex projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels – and external and internal, including demonstrated ability to think end-to-end, manage long-term projects
    • Have superior communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills. The ability to quickly synthesize information, structure a concise, clear presentation of findings, and prioritize issues as appropriate is a must
  • Required language: Spanish, English
  • Bonus points (desired but not required): 
    • MBA or relevant graduate degree from top-tier institution or similar academic / professional experience
    • Manager experience
